I’ve been commissioned to write a feature on the sterling work played by National Trust volunteers after the devastating floods in Cockermouth. This piece is due to be published in April. Deadline next Wednesday.

I’ve been commissioned for four tips pieces for Tech Radar, deadlines throughout March. Details of each tips piece will appear when it’s published.

Microsoft Windows, 43

I shall be contributing two projects to issue 43 of Microsoft’s official Windows magazine: a guide to creating a DVD photo slideshow in Windows Live Movie Maker (due Thursday), and a guide to setting up and recording TV in Windows 7 (due next Monday). My regular Support Squad column is due in tomorrow.

PC Answers 211

I’ve been commissioned to write the lead feature for issue 211 of PC Answers, a guide to averting disaster. This is due in Mid-March, and accompanies a three-page project on recording your family tree online (due next Monday) and my regular Helpdesk pages (due the following Friday).

I’ve been commissioned for two pieces of work for issue 209: a 16-page Explained! guide to ebooks, and a three-page project explaining how to access Windows XP in Windows 7 for older incompatible programs and hardware devices. Deadlines are early January and mid-December respectively.

MSN Tech & Gadgets

I’ve been commissioned to write a piece looking back to the year 2000 and finding out what happened to all that gadgetry that was hyped at the time and is now long forgotten. Deadline mid-December, should be interesting!

PC Plus, 291

I’ve just been commissioned to write a three-page project for PC Plus magazine on drive security, with an emphasis on Windows 7. Deadline next week (eek!).

Vodafone

I’ve been commissioned to produce six fortnightly e-magazines and a blog to help promote the launch of Apple’s iPhone on the Vodafone network. This work has been commissioned by GGMR, and will be ongoing for a period of around three months. Links will of course be forthcoming in due course.

I’ve been commissioned to write the lead feature on easy PC upgrades, plus a two-page project on troubleshooting network printers. Again, the deadline is mid-November.

I shall be writing a quick-fire 12 essential add-ons and plugins piece for the Tech Radar web site. Deadline mid-November.

I’ve been commissioned to write a two-page project for issue 79 on improving the quality of old photographs using Serif PhotoPlus 9, which will appear on that issue’s cover disc. Deadline is the end of May.

I’ve been commissioned to write a feature on netbooks for the official Microsoft Windows XP Magazine’s 100th issue. I will also be contributing the lead feature: 100 free tools for your PC.

Microsoft Windows Vista

I’ve just submitted my Q&A column for issue 32. Deadlines and holidays notwithstanding, I may also have a two-page tutorial on batch processing photos to write for the same issue on my return – deadline sometime in May.

BBC Who Do You Think You Are?

My forthcoming review of Family Historian 4 has been pushed back an issue due to a delayed release date (deadline now early May). In its place I’ve been commissioned to write a review of Roots Magic 4, which has also just been released. Deadline middle of next week.

Your Family Tree, issue 77

I’ve been commissioned to write a “quick tip” on how to use Family Tree Maker’s web clipping facility to merge records from the 1911 census into a family history research file. Deadline Friday.

I’ve just been approached to write the lead feature for PCA’s 200th issue, which will be on crash-proofing your PC. Deadline is likely to be in early May.
