In August 2007 my good friend Joe Cassels
will be showcasing his first one-man show at the Edinburgh
fringe. To quote from his web site, "Is Your Mobile On?
is a show that provides a lateral look at technology,
charting its development and intrusion into modern day life.
Joe Cassels shares his personal journey starting with Pong
and his childhood ZX81 right up to his use of smart phones
and Windows Vista. Along the way he examines the use and
abuse of computers and presents versions of historic events
if modern technology had been available at the time. He's
also regularly interrupted by PC support calls from
desperate users."
I hadn't acted since my school days, but
thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity Joe provided me with when
he asked me to feature in two video clips that will appear
in the show itself. Fame at last! Or maybe not - anyway, you
can judge for yourself by viewing the two clips below, but
if you're in Edinburgh in August, please do check out the
show. It's on most days between 3rd and 26th August at the
Roman Eagle Lodge in the centre of the city - click
here
for more details and to buy advance tickets.
The first clip examines how Shakespeare
might have used technology to get past a severe case of
writer's block.
The second clip reveals how Henry VIII
really started on the road to marrying six times.
