Personal
Nick Peers, layabout
Life's not just about work, you know. This section of the Web
site covers anything that doesn't earn me a crust, and includes a diverse array
of material that probably reveals more about me than I'd
like to know.
The site features
photos from some of our recent holidays - my worry about
global warming has finally encouraged me to stop flitting
across the Atlantic to Canada and the US, so future trips
will be taken in the UK or on mainland Europe where we can
get there by ferry or train.
One thing I have done
is move all of my old photos to my MSN Spaces site. This covers
our trips to Canada (twice), Finland, Portugal and Dorset,
with more to follow from our honeymoon in Kenya. With some clever
trickery, I've managed to incorporate the MSN Spaces site
into this one, so just click Nick's Photo Album to start
viewing them.
The DIY Fence Repair
Guide is just one example of my slow, laborious attempts to
learn new practical skills. After our successful - if drawn
out - attempt to
move to Essex in 2005 (a long, painful story related in
great depth on my blog), I'm slowly learning new skills that
will hopefully stand us in good stead in the future. We're
into our second year as holders of an allotment plot for
example.
I'm a Birmingham City supporter. The shock of
being promoted back to the Premiership is wearing off now (just
in time to find ourselves in the middle of a relegation
scrap), but I
thought I'd do some research into what celebrities have been
cursed with the same love for all things royal blue - at
least the royal blue that doesn't have a Russian's billions
behind it. The results are here. too.
Finally, I used to write a spoof news story
each month on PC Answers magazine, and then
contributed a monthly "quiz" for ten months - you can judge for
yourself whether there's anything remotely funny about my
sense of humour.
